  • Serve as the Assistant Store Director, responsible for all store administration functions, fully sharing the overall management, direction and control of the commissary.

  • Analyze a variety of management reports to determine efficiency of operations and to recommend or implement changes.

  • Develop budget estimates and monitors program obligations and expense targets.

  • Act as store sanitation coordinator; establish controls for prevention of pilferage and ensure that sanitation, safety and security precautions are observed.

  • Responsible for all personnel functions within the commissary, such as staffing, recruitment and the development of performance standards. Promote DeCA goals and objectives of the EEO and Affirmative Action Program.

  • Represent the commissary at a variety of commander's meetings, such as the Commissary Advisory Council and Base Civil Engineering meetings.

  • Monitor surveys, customer service training, and customer's suggestions and ideas.

In accordance with the Group Coverage Qualifications Standards for Administrative and Management Positions and IOR requirement for the Commissary Management Series, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience may not be substituted with education at this grade level.

Specialized experience include: Manage a commissary store, supermarket, or similar type of commercial retail food store. Manage a department in a retail food store, Developing, interpreting, or applying policies, procedures, and operating standards for use in a retail food store. Plan, standardize, or control operations in an assigned group of commercial retail food stores. Provide technical advice on merchandising and operational matters pertaining to grocery, meats, and produce, as well as front end operations.

Volunteer Experience: Your experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
